After 2 sessions that, for very different reasons, failed to live up to their billing or render any real sense of pleasure, this session was a breath of fresh air. Nestled amongst the trees on the banks of the river Dane, a warm evening in June presented me with the ideal opportunity to lay to rest the ghosts of the previous two sessions and I took the opportunity gladly.

Due to time constraints (I could only spare 3 hours) I fished with a single 13 foot Carbon Match rod (Robinson Aquarius), stick float straight through to size 18 hook with two locking shot and two dropper shot. I baited single white maggot (coloured maggots are pretty much impossible to buy in Lithuania) fished over a hemp based ground bait with loose fed maggot in around 6 feet of water.

The fish fed from the word go and I missed very little so the sport was pretty constant. As always the Bleak were prolific but my dropper shot managed to get me through them at least half of the time and the rewards were a new personal best for Lithuania, a 2LB 3oz Bream (not so far of my English PB for Bream), Rudd to around 8oz and roach and Skimmers a plenty to 4oz.

In total 105 fish in less time than it takes to watch the latest King Kong film and eminently more enjoyable!
